The unrest was prompted from the capture of Mexico's most wanted cartel leader, El Mencho
The 23rd edition of the FIFA WORLD CUP is se to be held in the summer.
It will be the first world cup to be co-hosted by 3 countries; Canada, USA, Mexico.
However, many fans are speculating the safety of the world cup matches held in Mexico following the recent unrest.
The unrest was prompted from the capture of Mexico's most wanted cartel leader, El Mencho, which triggered roadblocks, arson, and clashes between gangs notably in the Jalisco state.
The Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has stepped up and confronted the situation.
Claudia reassured the fans that the matches will be held without risk.
He also stated that the situation is going back to normal following a series of violent attacks by the cartel members on Sunday, in response to an operation to capture cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, known as "El Mencho," which resulted in his death.
The FIFA world cup 2026 is going to begin from the 11th of June to 19 July with 13 of the matches to be held in Mexico.
