After a high-energy second weekend at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, promoter Goldenvoice is now facing a hefty fine.
A $44,000 penalty has been imposed after Justin Bieber and Anyma exceeded the city’s curfew with their second-weekend performances.
Officials in Indio said sets by Yummy hitmaker and electronic performer Anyma crossed the city’s 1:00 a.m. curfew, leading to financial penalties under local rules.
The festival’s opening weekend stayed within curfew limits, but weekend two broke curfew on two nights, as per an initial report from TMZ.
The fines quickly piled up, with Anyma’s Friday, April 17, set stretched to 1:09 a.m. and costing $24,000, followed by Justin Bieber’s Saturday April 18, overrun adding $20,000 more.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival operates under a strict agreement with Indio officials, mandating a 1:00 a.m. cutoff on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12:00 a.m. on Sundays.
As per the agreement, crossing the a five minute curfew at Coachella results in a $20,000 penalty, with additional fines for further delays.
