Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast and team want audience to take the upcoming sequel as a fresh chapter for Peter Parker, signals a new era for the beloved superhero.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, star Tom Holland said the film represents “the beginning of a new...thing,” before jokingly calling it “Spider-Man: Brand New Thing.”

Holland, who recently acknowledged during promotion for The Odyssey that he is nearing the end of playing teenage characters, returns as an older version of Peter Parker. The sequel is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, taking over from Jon Watts, who helmed the previous three Spider-Man films.

Holland's co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also described the film as a turning point for the franchise.

“It is a Brand New Day after all,” Batalon said.

“Whether or not the day has started...is the question,” Zendaya added.

The upcoming film follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which the world’s memory of Peter Parker was erased. 

As the story resumes, Peter is rebuilding his life while continuing to protect New York City as Spider-Man, even as he struggles with loneliness after watching MJ and Ned move forward without remembering him.

The cast's remarks reinforce the film's central theme of moving forward, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day positioned as both the conclusion of one journey and the beginning of another for Marvel's web-slinger.
