Mexican driver Sergio Perez made his Cadillac debut at the British Grand Prix track
Last Friday was a big day for the Cadillac Formula 1, as the team successfully completed its first-ever 2026 track run at the Silverstone shakedown.
The Mexican driver, Sergio Perez, drove the Ferrari-powered car, calling it an “amazing day.” He added, “It was emotional to be part of motorsport history.” The veteran was joined by Valtteri Bottas as the second full-time race driver and Zhou Guanyu, the reserve driver.
The day marked the first track appearance for the 11th F1 team.
Backed by General Motors (GM), the car utilised a “largely bare carbon” testing livery featuring the names of the founding members on the chassis.
Team CEO Dan Towriss shared his pride in the efforts, saying, “Today’s shakedown is a significant step” and noted that the model represents the “culmination of thousands of hours of work driven by pure passion.”
Graeme Lowdon, the team’s principal, while praising the achievement despite the challenges, said, “The main thing is we achieved the key things that we wanted to achieve.”
Cadillac plans to reveal its official race livery at the Super Bowl on February 8.
