Gerardo Taracena passed away at 55 from unknown cause of death
Gerardo Taracena has passed away at the age of 55. The Mexican actor and dancer’s death was declared publicly by the National Association of Actors (ANDA).
The organisation shared the news in a brief statement offering condolences to his loved ones and fellow artists.
Although, the reason behind his death was not disclosed.
Taracena rose to fame internationally for his role in Mel Gibson’s 2006 film Apocalypto.
The movie became the reason for his fame at a global level and introduced his name to people outside Mexico.
Besides Apocalypto the legendary performer also starred in multiple Hollywood films including Man on Fire and The Mexican.
While his presence on screen was much appreciated most of his work was more focused on theatre and dance throughout his career.
Taracena was widely respected in Mexico’s performing arts scene. He worked across film, stage and movement, often blending acting and dance in his performances.
In the theatre he remained active for years contributing to productions that focused on physical storytelling.
Following the announcement of his death tributes began to appear online from actors and industry figures.
Taracena kept much of his private life out of the public eye. Further details surrounding his death have not been shared.
He is remembered for his intensity on screen his physical performances on stage and his role in helping Mexican talent reach international audiences.
