California Governor Gavin Newsom has officially declared Sunday, February 8, as “Bad Bunny Day” in the state.

The declaration was in anticipation of the Puerto Rican star’s halftime show at Super Bowl LX.

In a post on X, Newsom praised Bad Bunny’s “soothing, beautiful voice” and playful charm, calling him a standout performer for the big game.

“As many people know, I am a tremendous lover of ‘The Spanish,’” the governor wrote, referencing the language in all caps in a nod to former President Donald Trump’s social media style.

Newsom also highlighted his admiration for Puerto Rico, noting the singer’s roots in the U.S. territory.

The announcement comes amid a politically charged Super Bowl weekend.

Kid Rock, a known MAGA supporter, is set to headline a rival halftime event hosted by Turning Point USA. Newsom took aim at the rocker, joking about his “ban” in California after multiple artists pulled out of his Rock the Country festival.

“Happy Bad Bunny Day, America. Enjoy!!” the governor added, concluding with a humorous self-comparison of his own “hotness” to the singer’s.

The declaration cements the Super Bowl halftime show as more than a musical spectacle, blending pop culture with political theatre as California embraces one of the game’s most anticipated performances.
