The documentary Melania, centred on Melania Trump, is set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video this week.
The film, which chronicles the final 20 days before Donald Trump began his second presidential term, will start streaming on the platform on March 9.
Directed by Brett Ratner, the project marks the filmmaker’s return to directing after nearly a decade away from the industry. Ratner had largely stepped back from Hollywood following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct made against him in 2017.
The documentary also generated attention for its distribution deal, with Amazon MGM Studios acquiring the rights for a reported $75 million. Although the film underperformed commercially in cinemas, it exceeded early expectations at the box office.
Melania debuted with approximately $7 million during its opening weekend and ultimately earned $16.6 million in theatrical receipts. Reports suggested that older white women made up a significant portion of the film’s audience.
Critical reception, however, proved largely unfavourable. The documentary currently holds an 11% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting widespread negative reviews following its release.
