Zendaya reflects on her first meeting with Tom Holland: ‘Really calm’
Zendaya is opening up about her first meeting with Tom Holland and feeling “really calm.”
During her new film, The Drama, Zendaya appeared on The New York Times' Modern Love podcast with Robert Pattinson, where she reflected on her early memories of Holland when they first met in their 2017 movie Spider-Man: Homecoming screen test.
"I knew this is my person because I don’t feel nervous around them,” she said of Holland. “I feel really peaceful, and I feel really calm like.”
In fact, Zendaya added that she feels “more nervous” being away from Holland as compared to being with him. Adding to her first meeting, Zendaya recalled she met Holland at an audition where she was feeling “pretty nervous anyway."
During the conversation, the host Anna Martin asked Zendaya to describe how she felt calm with Holland at the Homecoming screentest.
"Just by being a nice person,” the Euphoria actress said. “By making me feel comfortable. I mean, it’s like having to do a chemistry read for a big movie like that. It’s like, oh, you really want the job, and all these kind of things. And yeah, he was really lovely then."
Zendaya and Tom Holland were first linked in 2017, but only confirmed their relationship in 2021. Reports of their engagement surfaced in January 2025, while stylist Law Roach later suggested in 2026 that they may already be married, though neither has confirmed it.
The Drama arrives in cinemas on April 3.
