Akshay Kumar’s latest horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has quietly turned into a big weekend winner.

The film crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide in just three days, something not many expected so quickly.

The makers, Balaji Motion Pictures, shared the update online, saying the film earned Rs 30.20 crore on its third day.

Sunday clearly gave it a push. Before that, it made Rs 25.65 crore on Saturday and Rs 21.60 crore on Friday. The total now stands at Rs 102.05 crore globally.

“Across borders, the laughter is universal!” read the caption of the post.

What seems to be working is the mix of old-style comedy and spooky drama, along with the reunion of Kumar and director Priyadarshan after 14 years.

That gap now looks like it has paid off.

The story itself is simple. Kumar plays Arjun, who travels from London to a village in India after his sister inherits a palace.

But there is a strange curse, brides keep disappearing. The film follows what happens next.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla marks the director’s return to Hindi films after five years and a reunion with Akshay Kumar after 14 long years.

The film also stars Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar.
