Michael Jackson’s son lifts lid on 'magical' yet unusual upbringing
Prince Jackson opens up about growing up with the King of Pop
Michael Jackson’s parenting style has been opened up about by none other than his eldest son, Prince Jackson.
During a recent appearance on Channel Seven’s Sunrise, the 29-year-old shared insights into what it was like growing up with the late pop legend, who lived a life under immense public scrutiny.
Prince also served as a producer on the recently released biopic about his father, Michael, which hit theaters on April 24, 2026.
"As I've gotten older, I've learned that a lot of what I think is normal life is not normal life," he said, reflecting on his upbringing.
He continued, "Growing up at Neverland with my siblings and my father, for us, it was hanging out together as a family, but with the backdrop of elephants and giraffes walking in the background."
"We spent a lot of time playing board games together, reading books, and watching movies. It truly was, and is, magical. It felt like your own personal Disneyland,” the Beat It hitmaker’s son recalled.
He went on to say that the late star was a present parent, adding that spending quality time with him was "really fun."
Prince also revealed that his father advised parents to meet children at their level through play, rather than expecting them to act like adults.
"When he played with us, he played with us. You know, he got down, and he was playing with the toys and making up stories...He just had a very childlike nature that was so much fun, always playing pranks on people and stuff," he noted.
How many children did Michael Jackson have?
In addition to Prince, the Rock With You crooner was also a father to daughter Paris Jackson. Both children were from his marriage to Debbie Rowe.
Michael Jackson also had a third child, son Bigi Jackson, who was born via surrogate.
