Lisa Faulkner shares health update after surgery for early-stage breast cancer: 'All clear'
Lisa Faulkner said a routine mammogram helped detect breast cancer in its earliest stages
Actress and presenter Lisa Faulkner has revealed she is recovering after undergoing surgery for breast cancer sharing that doctors have now confirmed she is “all clear”.
The 54-year-old said she had an operation two weeks ago after being diagnosed with breast cancer in its very early stages.
In a video shared with her Instagram followers Faulkner said she had now received the results of the procedure and was told the cancer had been fully removed.
“It’s all good, they’ve got everything out, so it’s all clear and I just need some radiotherapy in a few weeks,” she said.
Faulkner explained that the diagnosis came after a routine mammogram and urged others not to delay their own screenings saying the scan played a crucial role in catching the disease before it progressed further.
“I’m so grateful that I went for my mammogram. Don’t put them off, go, because they found this — without this mammogram, it wouldn’t have been picked up,” she told fans.
The actress said she was diagnosed at “the very early stages of breast cancer” but still had to undergo what she described as “quite a big op”.
Although she still has healing ahead of her Faulkner said she is feeling much better.
“I still have quite a bit of healing to do. But I’m good, I’m well. And feeling so much better,” she added.
Faulkner also praised the NHS and the availability of early screening saying she was thankful to have been able to receive treatment quickly.
“I want to say thank you to our wonderful NHS and the fact that we can have these mammograms, and we can get treatment early,” she said.
Messages of support quickly followed her announcement including from fellow actress Tamzin Outhwaite who wrote: “Love you Lise. You’ve got this my darling.”
Faulkner is best known for her work in EastEnders, Holby City and Spooks.
