Anshul Sharma's direction with support from Luv Ranjan brings the romantic comedy back to its first instalment time and place. The narrative centres on Ashish and Ayesha's choice to deepen their bond.

While they are determined to have a future together they are forced to deal with new difficulties from their families. Ayesha takes Ashish to meet her parents (R Madhavan and Gautami).

The difference in their ages shocks and makes her parents uneasy thus creating an atmosphere of tension and awkwardness especially since Ashish is trying to assure them of his genuineness.

However, things get more complicated when Ayesha's family decides to bring her old friend back into the picture thinking he would be a better choice for her.
