Matt Damon has recently explained how his friendship with Ben Affleck evolved over the last 45 years.

The Martian actor, who has been friends with Ben since childhood, reflected on his close bond with Deep Water star at the premiere of their new movie, The Rip, in New York City.

“Well, the circumstances of our lives have changed a lot and obviously we've gone through different phases of life, having kids, so those things are vastly different,” explained the 55-year-old in a new interview with PEOPLE.

However, Matt added, “I feel like who we are as people was kind of established together a long time ago in our adolescence and teens and those things have been pretty consistent.”

It is pertinent to mention that both actors have worked together many times over the last four decades in movies like Dogma, Air, and The Last Duel.

Moreover, Matt and Ben had collaborated together to create a production company, Artists Equity back in 2022.

While talking about their collaboration, the Argo director previously spoke to Vanity Fair and revealed that at some point, they “got convinced of this idea, like, 'Well, you don't wanna work together all the time, you'll become sort of associated with each other.' And that's negative”.

But then, Ben stated, “It was sort of like, ‘I don't know, let's work together.’ Cause that's the beautiful, that's the fun.”

Meanwhile, both stars have appeared together once again as actors and producers for their new Netflix movie, The Rip.
