The sequel to The Housemaid has officially secured a release slate, with Sydney Sweeney set to return in The Housemaid’s Secret.

Lionsgate confirmed that the follow-up to the near-$400 million global hit will arrive in theatres at the end of 2027, positioning itself once again as counterprogramming to major franchise releases.

The original film, directed by Paul Feig, debuted on December 17, 2025, opening to $19 million domestically before surging to $126.5 million in the US alone, despite competing against Avatar: Fire & Ash. 

The sequel is expected to face similar high-profile competition, including Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Sweeney reprises her role as Millie, a woman with a shadowy past who takes a housekeeping job under unusual conditions, only to uncover secrets hidden behind a locked door. 

Joining her this time is Kirsten Dunst, while Michele Morrone returns as Enzo.

Feig returns to direct and produce alongside Laura Fischer under Pretty Dangerous Pictures, with Sweeney also producing via Fifty-Fifty Films. Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine is back to adapt the sequel from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, continuing the franchise’s psychological edge.
