Nick Jonas marked the birthday of his late friend Maya Kibbel with an emotional tribute, just weeks after her tragic passing.

On Friday, April 3, the 33-year-old singer took to his Instagram Story to remember Kibbel, with whom he shared a close, sibling-like bond, as he marked what would have been her 31st birthday.

“I reached for my phone to call you so many times today, because for as long as I can remember this has been your day. Your birthday-April 3rd seared in my memory,” Jonas wrote alongside a nostalgic childhood photo of the two

He added, “I will cherish the time God gave us together forever. Please be at peace in heaven now and blow out your candles with the angels. You are and always will be my sister. I miss you so much. Happy Birthday Maya.”

At the time of Kibbel’s passing last month, the Jealous crooner had written, “My sister forever. Here for you always @coach_kibbel.”

Kibbel breathed her last at the age of 30 on March 7, 2026, after suffering from Wilson’s disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes excessive copper to accumulate in vital organs, primarily the liver and brain.

Confirming the news, her mother, Kiyoko Kibbel, shared a heartfelt statement.

“She fought hard, but her body gave out. Early on 3/7, she collapsed and her heart and lungs stopped working. It was too late and she passed away in the ER,” she penned.
