Samay Raina fears bankruptcy like Amitabh Bachchan after controversy
After the controversy, he faced financial adjustments and refunds
Indian comedian Samay Raina recently spoke about the difficult phase he faced after the controversy linked to India’s Got Latent. He shared how the situation affected his work, money, and future plans.
In a recent interview, Samay said he lost several upcoming episodes of his show as guests became hesitant to appear. He also stated that sponsorship deals were withdrawn after the controversy.
He explained that payments he had already received were kept in fixed deposits. Later, he had to break those deposits and return the money when projects were cancelled.
Samay said, “I had to break those FDs and return the money. I was in a mess.”
He further added that multiple brand deals and ad projects were also affected during that time. According to him, the uncertainty created pressure on both his personal and professional life.
The comedian also shared that he had signed a tour deal where advance payments had already been invested. After the controversy, he faced financial adjustments and refunds.
Samay said, “I was extremely scared. I did not know what I would do. My biggest fear was going broke and falling into debt.”
He also compared his fears to the financial struggles of veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who had faced major debt issues in the late 1990s after the collapse of his company ABCL.
The controversy around India’s Got Latent started after a viral clip from the show triggered backlash online. The clip led to public criticism and multiple complaints, after which several episodes were removed from YouTube.
Following the incident, Samay also stepped back from releasing new content for some time and focused on managing the situation.
