South Indian actor-turned politician Vijay’s sister, Keerthana, expressed happiness after her brother’s party, TVK, won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. She was seen outside Vijay’s Chennai residence on Friday night and thanked supporters, saying, “We feel great. Thank you, everyone. We feel so happy and great.”

Several celebrities showed their support for Vijay on social media. Actors Kamal Haasan and Vishal posted congratulatory messages, while actress Khushbu Sundar, also a BJP leader, wrote, “I, C. Joseph Vijay… Congratulations, Honourable Chief Minister,” and shared a smiling picture of him.

Actor Vijay Deverakonda also wrote, saying, “My admiration and congratulations to the people of Tamil Nadu for turning up so strongly to vote and take a stand for themselves.”

He added, “Wishing all the people of TN and the new CM all prosperity and collective growth. Excited to see this new phase and face of Tamil politics.”

Vijay met the Governor at Raj Bhavan to stake his claim to form the government. However, the swearing-in did not take place as the party could not secure the majority in the 234-member Assembly. TVK needed 117 seats for a majority but won only 108.

The Congress, with five MLAs, along with CPI and CPI(M), each with two MLAs, had pledged support to Vijay. Reports indicated that VCK, holding two MLAs, was considering backing the TVK.

Despite the uncertainty, supporters celebrated the TVK’s performance, while Vijay’s camp continued discussions to secure additional backing for forming the government.
