Travis Kelce confirms NFL return after fiancée Taylor Swift’s push
Travis Kelce is officially joining the Kansas City Chiefs for another season after his fiancée, Taylor Swift, motivated him to go for it.
On Tuesday, March 10, during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, the Super Bowl champion confirmed that he will return to the NFL after months of rumours.
"Let’s go! Making another run at it, baby, and the Chiefs are making moves, Pat," Kelce said to the host, McAfee.
Kelce also discussed his partner’s support while Swift and he are busy planning their upcoming wedding. He said he needed to "take a step back" before deciding to return, but the pop sensation motivated him.
"We share the same love for what we do, and we've had this...desire," Kelce added. "I'm still in love with this game.”
Travis Kelce said he still loves “putting on the pads” and playing the game, adding that returning to the Kansas City Chiefs felt like his best opportunity. He said he was excited to “run this thing back” with Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid and couldn’t wait to get back in the building.
The NFL legend also praised his Grammy-winning fiancée for keeping “finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies...and on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does."
"Yeah, of course that's motivating," he added of Swift. "That's motivating for anyone to see, let alone my fiancée, and knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out what exactly the future holds for me, something like that definitely motivates me to say, 'You know what, I'm not done either.'"
Kelce teased that he has "still got some ideas in the back of my mind" and "still got some juice to play this game."
