Peter Capaldi has revealed he turned down an offer to appear on The Traitors saying he has no interest in the level of fame that comes with reality television.

The former Doctor Who star shared the reason during an interview where he spoke about his approach to public life and career choices.

When asked if he would consider joining a celebrity version of the hit show Capaldi was clear. “No, I wouldn’t do that,” he said.

The 67-year-old actor confirmed he had already been approached but chose to decline the opportunity pointing to the intense public exposure such shows bring.

“There’s a level of fame that it propels you into the public eye, at a level of exposure that I don’t really want,” he explained.

While reality TV often attracts celebrities looking to boost visibility the actor said that kind of attention does not appeal to him.

“I like doing my music things,” he added, referring to his creative pursuits outside of acting.

He also acknowledged that his preference for a quieter career path is not always understood within the industry.

“It’s very difficult for people in that business to understand that you want to keep it small,” he said.

Celebrity Traitors is expected to feature a lineup of well-known faces competing in a game of strategy and deception but Capaldi has made it clear he will not be part of it.
