Caleb McLaughlin reflects on Eleven’s arc in ‘Stranger Things’ finale
Caleb McLaughlin reveals his theory about the cliff-hanging fate of Stranger Things Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown.
During his appearance on The View, the Stranger Things alum, who played Lucas Sinclair, appeared to promote his new film, Goat.
On Friday, February 6, the host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, asked him to share his theory about the finale of the Netflix hit series, and McLaughlin's answer disappointed her.
"Your co-star, Sadie Sink, seems to think that she's dead," Griffin said, before cautioning. "What do you think? Don't break my heart."
"I, uh, I think she's gone," McLaughlin said, making the ABC show audience gape. Ana Navarro quickly asked the actor if Eleven had "gone to the supermarket," as McLaughlin elucidated his response.
"I think, rest in peace, Eleven," he said.
Griffin sighed a no, adding that she "respectfully" disagreed with his thoughts.
However, McLaughlin added that he believes Lucas thinks she is alive. He then gave a shoutout to the Duffer Brothers, calling them “amazing creators.”
“Changed my life forever, you know what I mean? But I think what the Duffers wanted to do was leave a level of optimism that the show always had,” he said. “The kids brought so much to the show.”
He said that the kids were the heart of the show and that he didn’t think anyone wanted viewers to leave in despair, so they made sure to give everyone hope.
"I felt that,” he added. “But as the actor, I'm like, 'Nah, she's gone.' I'm not coming back. Season 5, that was it!"
