The country star’s latest health scare comes months after heart surgery
Country music legend Ray Stevens has been hospitalised after suffering a serious fall that left him with a broken neck.
The 87-year-old singer was rushed to the hospital in Nashville on Sunday following the accident.
Despite the severity of the injury Stevens is said to be in stable condition and recovering well.
“Despite the injury, he remains fully mobile and in good spirits as he continues his recovery,” the statement said.
Doctors have advised the Grammy-winning artist to wear a neck brace for approximately four weeks as part of his recovery process.
This recent accident adds up as another health scare for Stevens who underwent heart surgery last year after suffering a mild heart attack.
Despite recent health challenges Stevens’ upcoming album Favorites Old & New is still set to release as scheduled this Friday.
In recent years Stevens had announced plans to slow down his performances.
His plans also included stepping back from regular shows at his CabaRay Showroom in Nashville though he later returned to the stage to promote new music.
Stevens was married to his late wife Penny Jackson Ragsdale for over 60 years until her death in 2021.
