French actress Nadia Fares has passed away at the age of 57.

The actress was found unconscious in the swimming pool of a gym hours before the news broke out.

The Morocco-born star was in Paris when she was found on April 11 and had been in come since her body was discovered.

Nadia rose to fame for her breakthrough role in The Crimson Rivers.

The actress’ daughters Cylia and Shana Chasman announced her death.

In a statement to AFP, they said their mother suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Friday, April 17 at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.

“It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès this Friday,” they stated.

“France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost.”

Nadia had recently returned to Paris after staying in US for a while.

Her daughters have requested for “respect and discretion” in their time of mourning.

Born in Morocco in 1986, Nadia made her film debut in 1992, with My Wife's Girlfriends.
