Irrfan Khan's 25-year-old unreleased film is officially out now
Irrfan Khan, Vidya Balan first and last collaborative project finally releases
Irrfan Khan’s poignant unreleased film has been finally released after 25 years.
Written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, the project starred Khan alongside Vidya Balan and offers a deep insight into both the actors’ life before they rose to fame.
Titled The Last Tenant, the emotional film was released on YouTube on the Piku star’s death anniversary on April 29.
The film was shot back in 2000s, but was shelved after the makers lost its original footage.
The director recently recovered the lost copy of the special project, enabling him to release the late actor’s early age film.
Dasgupta, while talking about The Last Tenant, shared that it was project made with extreme effort, without any formal training and industry backing.
The newly-released film features Irrfan and Vidya along with Annu Khandelwal, Sabya Saachi, Satish Kalra, Saurabh Agarwal and Anand Mishra.
It is said to be the first and only on-screen collaboration between Khan and Balan.
The film was especially released on his death anniversary as a tribute to the Life of Pie star, who passed away in 2020 after fighting a prolonged battle with cancer.
His last film before his tragic death was English Medium that also Radihka Madan and Deepak Dobriyal.
